Shiba Inu (SHIB), the second-largest canine-themed cryptocurrency by market capitalization, experienced a notable price surge this past Saturday, soaring to an eight-month peak. This Ethereum-powered digital token made significant strides, even as its counterpart, Dogecoin (DOGE), recorded more moderate gains.
On the said day, Shiba Inu witnessed a sharp increase in value, peaking at $0.00002969, before slightly retreating to a present valuation of $0.00002897. Despite this minor pullback, SHIB still posted an impressive uptick of over 12% for the day, marking its highest value since the first of April, eight months prior.
Among the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, as cataloged by CoinGecko, Shiba Inu stands out as the most substantial gainer. Filecoin follows as a distant second, having ascended 10% on the same day.
While dog-themed meme coins as a whole did not experience widespread gains on the day, with Bonk (BONK) and Dogwifhat (WIF) only marginally increasing by approximately 1% each over the span of 24 hours, others like the Ethereum-based Floki (FLOKI) saw a near 6% rise.
Dogecoin, on another note, is inching closer to a one-week high, currently trading above $0.43, marking a 3% increase for the day. Reflecting on its performance, DOGE had previously achieved a three-year zenith of $0.475 last Saturday; despite the fluctuation in price, it has surged by an impressive 164% over the past month.
Another noteworthy performer in the meme coin domain is Brett (BRETT), which attained an all-time high of $0.2032 on Saturday. Brett, notable for being the premier meme coin on the Ethereum layer-2 network Base, has appreciated by 17% in the last 24 hours.
